The Best Tips/Tricks To Preserve Youthful Skin
When focusing on skin preservation and promoting skin health, it’s essential to understand that aging skin is completely natural & part of our natural life cycle; as humans, we mature as time progresses, and it should be embraced and not shamed - beauty is ageless. In my practice, I always say “honesty is the best policy,” so being honest when consulting with your aesthetician/skin therapist about your skin goals and lifestyle is essential to receive the best results/recommendations. When preservation of youth is a skincare goal, I tell my clients the following tips:
Anti-Aging being a skincare goal goes a lot further than finding a specific product for significant results. In contrast, effects can help overall include lifestyle changes such as diet, massage & recommended facial treatments to try out.
Tip #1 Incorporate Massage In Routine -
Incorporate facial massage techniques & tools into your routine; My recommended massage practice is Gua Sha. These tools have been practical and practiced in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. The Gua Sha tool has evolved and been perfected throughout the centuries. The Gua Sha tool is designed to promote a firming, lifting effect on the skin, Lymphatic Drainage (increases product penetration & production of collagen/elastin and releases toxins & tension). Massage is a significant step to add to your current skincare routine to improve circulation, firm/lift, and drain the lymphatic system, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Tip #2 Increase Antioxidant In Diet & In Skincare -
Antioxidants are substances that can protect against free radicals (pollutants, alcohol, smoking, junk food) by incorporating antioxidant-rich foods into your diet is a great way to maintain youthful, healthy skin. Antioxidants protect us from free radicals, which can cause Oxidative stress (cellular damage caused by free radicals), a significant cause of skin aging. Popular foods high in antioxidants include berries (all kinds), pomegranates, mango, spinach, kale, broccoli, asparagus, avocado, sweet potato & more. In addition, incorporating antioxidant-focused skincare products is a great way to prevent the signs of aging as well. Common antioxidant ingredients in skincare include vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A (retinol) & niacinamide.
Tip #3 Always Apply SPF - AM Routine
SPF/ Sunscreen is a significant step in your skincare routine. Many of us neglect the power of UV ray damage as it doesn’t show up until our more mature years (dark spots, wrinkles, sagging, discolouration ). I always recommend incorporating as many SPF-friendly products in your skincare body-care & makeup routine as staying protected should be a priority for all skin types. (check out our shop for SPF friendly products)
Tip #4 Treatment Recommendations
For selecting facial treatments, I recommend letting your aesthetician/skin therapist perform a skin analysis before treatment and allow them to recommend services that would provide the best result for your skin type/skin concerns. Standard therapies best suited for maturing skin include HydraFacial, Chemical Peels & Galvanic Treatments, which are best for producing significant anti-aging results. Expand & explore new self-care services; treat yourself!
